I went to Kirkdale cemetery today to see if I could locate the graves of the following German Soldiers who died here in our City in 1916

These soldiers I assume were taken prisoner during the Battle of the Somme and Venice Street Military Hospital was what was Venice Street Council School.

I want to see if there are any markings on their graves saying who they are, and what Regiments they were from. They are someones family and WW1 is long over. There is no evidence that these soldiers were Repatriated after hostilities so as far as I am aware their final resting place is in our City. Anyway forgot my book with the grave numbers in. But I spent a pleasant 2 hours photographing the Canadian/New Zealand/Australian and any War Grave I came upon. One headstone is sinking and you can just barely make out the details of the soldier.

What I want to ask, does Daggers/Mark know of how I can search for German War graves as we have the CWGC.

I want to follow up on these Soldiers as I think if they are in unmarked graves some sort of stone or something should be put in Kirkdale saying they are there.

I had a look around the site (using Google translation so not easy!) and it seems that the online database is far from complete, I put in a few names from your list and nothing came up - there is an option to email them search requests that looks like the best bet unless there is a german-speaking forum member willing to help out.

Good luck, I totally agree that if these men weren't repatriated they should definitely have some sort of marker.

Haven't got a clue with German I suppose Vorname is First name I'll have to go onto a German Dictionary translator. Should be fun

The search boxes are:

surname
forename
date of birth
date of death
place of birth

It seems to be dates with / are American style ie 08/29/1916 and dots are English style 29.08.1916

then the option to look for all war dead from a single place of birth.

The 'phonetische suchfunktion' is, as you may have guessed, the phonetic search function

I walked past Section 9 and I never saw any graves that resemble German graves I will go back next Tuesday and see if these graves are marked and then go from there.
