I have the following soldier in my database who was reported as having died of wounds
Labour Corps
Farquhar
48769
John
Private
Liverpool
12th December 1917
Died of Wounds
Husband of Sarah Jane Farquhar, of Thomaston, Connecticut, U.S.A
Date of list:16th-January-1918
On the National Archives site he is recorded as originally being with the King's Liverpool Regiment
http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.u ... i=D2185986
According to CWGC he was originally with The Royal Garrison Artillery number 131903
http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casua ... QUHAR,%20J
There is no record of a John Farquhar under Regimental number 131903 Royal Garrison Artillery
Thoughts please.

The medal index card is the one where it gives 'Liverpool Regiment'. Soldiers Died in the Great War gives the RGA reference. Curious! Unless you can find his papers, which is unlikely, the mystery remains.
The War Graves Commission often puts in a next of kin with their status long after the war which can be very confusing when, for example, a widow has remarried.

Or the family have emigrated. He is not recorded on any memorials. Just checked his death registration and it just states Labour Corps. I will have a look for a obituary for him. I will just make a note on his entry listing the discrepancy
Thanks DS for locating his marriage and census record I had located his birth and 1901 but could not get a marriage.
