Can any one help I'm looking for the Movements in France on or about 8th May 1916 of the 1/9th Btn.of the Kings Liverpool reg.my Grandfather Private 4317 George Highton was badly injured somewhere around Ypes Belgium as was private 4309 T.Shepherd his injuries were recorded in the Times London Gazette 15th June 1916.He was returned to England and hospitalised somewhere ? He sadly died 28.10.1927 from his injuries before I was born so I never met him the family said as with many returning soldiers He never spoke of the war years and just wanted to forget about it

Some of the King's Regiment Territorial battalion war diaries are at the Merseyside Maritime Museum library at Albert Dock. Their online catalogue might help. Beware of the limited opening times!

Katie it was also in the Times Gazette Thursday June 15 1916 and the local casualty list sent to me by a chap in Australia
But thank you for your help. I am now trying to find out where he was injured and where he was hospitalised

Did you consult the 9th KLR Battalion Diary ? That seems to be the piece of information that you never gave any feedback about on the old post.

I don't think we yet know if there is going to be a Military Day at the Museum this year but these diaries are often available to check there.

I went to the Albert dock about 15 years ago at the time I didn't know he was in the 1/9th just that he was a Kings Man I'll go again as soon as I can thank you everyone ( just trying to get more info. before I go )

It's not the Albert Dock that I mean, the last two years there has been a Military Day at the Waterfront Museum where some of the military researchers attend to give their help. One of these men has some War Diaries he takes along to help with look ups.

If we hear that there is to be another Military Day this year we will be promoting it on here as well as on the Facebook Group, we just haven't any details as yet.
