Malta military marriage records 1917

Hi all, I am looking at how to get access to a marriage certificate for a couple married in Malta in 1917. I have details from Ancestry and FMP for the army returns, and have seen the record stating it is on page 39 of the 1917 register. Couple were George H Ross and Violet Mabel Deale, both surgeons. Ancestry also has the record in Ireland Civil Registration Marriages Index 1845-1958 but no image.

Someone has given me these details from a family tree, but I want to prove who they are by father's name etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, John

With that army index reference you can order a certificate from the GRO in the normal way. Select from the "Overseas Events" list

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/cert ... select.asp

Interesting article about Violet here http://maltaramc.com/ladydoc/d/dealevm.html

Many thanks retiringtype, I forgot I could do that!

I had also Googled Violet and found the same site. Really interesting!

I am trying to order the certificate but it insists on a full date. I only have the quarter and year. Any thought? Thanks.

I would suggest you choose the "yes" option to "Is the GRO reference number known" question on the previous page. That will take you to another page where the date of marriage is not required. In the GRO reference field enter "Army Malta page 39"

Successfully ordered, thanks. Let's hope it has the required information... :)
