ADDED, from a query on the Great War Forum several years ago:
Gunner Strange was born in Oxford, son of Lewis and Annie. He enlisted in Liverpool, and probably served in an 8-inch Howitzer battery which had been raised in PORTLAND [edited to correct spelling]..

In 1911 Llewellyn Strange 21 year old Lift Attendant at a Hotel, born Oxford is lodging at 37 Dorset Road, Tuebrook.

Although he is enumerated on a separate sheet, the other family in the same house is another Lift Attendant Ernest Foster 33 from Ramsgate, Kent, wife Esther 32 from Wolverhampton, children Horace 7 born Manchester and Phyliss 3 months born Liverpool, also a visitor Connie Blue, 19 year old Housemaid in a Hotel born Kennington, London
