mc nally

Post by sophia »

I am trying to find information regarding a John Mc Nally who married in 1911 at St. Anthony's Church. They had two children and that is all I can find. I presume he died in the first world war. I do not know if his wife Catherine died or married again. I do not have a copy of the marriage cert. so that is all I know.

Thankyou.

Hi Sophia,
This would appear to be the marriage...
MCNALLY, John and LEARY, Catherine
Registration district: Liverpool
Year of registration: 1911; Dec qtr
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 224

There are 2 McNally nee Leary births..
MCNALLY, Martha - Liverpool - 1913
MCNALLY, Mary C - Liverpool - 1914

Because the name McNally would be fairly common you need to find and confirm John's age and occupation. The marriage cert will provide an age and his father's name and occupation so his YoB can be checked in the previous censuses.

As for Catherine marrying again if John had died there are 5 Catherine McNally marriages in Liverpool between 1915 and 1920. Again the 1911 marriage cert would be necessary to give her age and father's name for comparison in any searches.

A possible marriage for Martha McNally...

Martha McNally married Thomas J Mulby
Registration district: Liverpool North
Year of registration: 1935; Mar qtr
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 708

There are 4 Mulby nee McNally births registered in Liverpool, 1935 - 1950. In regard to the marriage that Tina found for Mary McNally, there are 10 births Jones nee McNally registered in Liverpool between 1932 and 1950. Quite likely not all of these 10 are to the same couple.

Because of privacy issues in that many of the above born could be still alive, details have been sent via PM.

Hi Tina,
I am concerned that Sophia has not yet collected that PM sent on Saturday March 9th. Perhaps she is busy with the info so far...
And it isn't the only message sitting in the Out tray.... a message to Mozrob48 has been there since February 13th! Hope he's OK.

Thank you all for all the information,

I have not checked my messages for awhile, I will have to sit and digest all the info and sort it out. The Mary Mc Nally married to William Burke is the right one with the daughter Martha married to a Mulby. I have checked the deaths for William Burke and found two that would match his birth, one was a book-keeper in the railway, which I have cleared and the other death is listed in Barmouth Street. This I thought was the right one as according to the poll books a James Mc Nally lives a couple of doors from him.

It is difficult to research those years around the first world war with the gap in records. Tomorrow I will check eveything and get back to everyone.

Once again Thank You for All Your Help.

I have just posted a reply to all the information received, as it is nearly eleven when I checked you can understand the previous email. I have just realised I have got two Mc Nally's confused.

There are two Mary Mc Nally's one married to Leary with children Martha and Catherine. With Martha marrying a Mulby.

The other Mary Mc Nally married a William Burke 1896 they had one child William, but are not on any other census. That was the one I had mentioned regarding the death of a William Burke in Barmouth Street.

Sorry for all the confusion.
