Photographer C Partoon

I have an old photo of a couple who I cannot identify.
The photographer's name is C Partoon and I am told their business was at 25 Walton Road.
I have looked at 1890 & 1900 Trade Directories but no sign of them.
Does anyone know when he/they were in business or if there is some sort of list of Liverpool Photographers and their years of operation?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Susan and welcome to the forum. I also have a 1900 directory, checked in case it was a different one to that you had checked, but unfortunately there is no listing for this company.

PARTOON, Arthur W., 2 South Rd, Waterloo
possibly another member of the family?

Arthur William Partoon (38 and listed as married, out of work due to ill health) and his siblings are listed as "step" to Daniel McFarlane in 1911, his wife is Mary Elizabeth McFarlane, who have been married for ten years. Well at least that's what it said, but they actually married in St Mary's Walton in Q3 1891.

In 1891 she is of course listed as a widow, Arthur W is a Commercial Clerk, but his brother George A, 16 is a Cashier to a Wholesale Picture Dealer. They are living in 98 Edge Lane.

In the 1881 census Charles Partoon, 36 years old, born London - a Photographer, is living with his family at 262 Walton Road.

He died age 41 in Q4 1885, W. Derby 8b 308

The 1881 Gores Directory lists PARTOON, Charles, 260 & 262 Walton Rd and the Kelly's of the same year just the one address, Partoon Chas. 262 Walton Road, Kirkdale

I can't see him in any earlier ones.

There is also mention of him, and others so perhaps it was a family business but other members in Scotland, here http://www.victorianphotographers.co.uk ... at&Submit= but I'm not sure exactly what they are charging for unless it's just details of the addresses.

A set of information purchased comprises of one photographer / photographic business at one address. A separate purchase is required to obtain details of the same photographer's other addresses in the same town or other towns.

and also a photograph posted on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/weedonkerr/5435194323/ where somebody appears to have done the investigation as to the dates the company was in business at the same address, through the directories, being 1881 to 1884

Also a Partoon family tree online http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... artoon.htm which appears to confirm these dates and a few other addresses, local to Walton Road, where he lived just before this. I think somebody has made an error

baptized 9 Nov 1885 in Kirkdale Cemetery, Longmoor Lane

which should be buried.

Thank you Mary. That information is very helpful. I have a suspicion I know who the people were and knowing the photographer died in 1885 half confirms that.

Partoon bn London aged 26yrs sorry can't read his occupation, looks like
a watchmaker with something else.
