looks like Elizabeth Evans was the daughter of William and Martha Evans living next but one to the Beddoes in 1841, so just a coincidence I think that she is Evans. Looks like Martha Evans was originally from Shropshire.

still wonder if they are why she married at Winwick.

Like Col said she is so adamant where she is from :? and why name Kent.
We are getting nowhere really are we :( although learning a lot about those around her. Was just hoping one of them would bring a clue with them

She's just not going to turn up is she Simone - her mother has covered her tracks very well.

I think both you and Colette need a break from Margaret, but you have my huge thanks for the wonderful efforts you've made on my behalf.

One day, when I'm retired maybe? I'll spend some time at Chester and try to go through as many Parish Registers on the Wirral as possible, like you've both said before, she's possibly baptised in another parish nearby, and many of them just aren't online to search.

Thanks again, I very much appreciate your help over this one. :D

Thomas Warrington & Elizabeth Aspinall

Post by cleopjones »

Hi, I'm brand new and am researching Elizabeth Aspinall's family who were Thomas & Anne Aspinall. I have info on both Aspinall and Warrington families.

Hi and welcome to the forum, especially from me since it was my enquiry that has led you to us.

If you have managed to read this long saga you will realise that we are attempting to connect Margaret Anne Lunt (nee KENT) to these families.

If you have managed to find any connection, possibly through an Evans family, I'd love to hear about it as although we have a few possibles we have found no definite relations for her.

For all of you who ever followed this enormous saga, I have a little update, years later.

First thing I would ever recommend that you do - and Katie will tell me off for not having done so immediately I got the death certificate - is check the newspapers for a obituary. I really thought, as Margaret's son William was reputed not to have a lot of money, that there wouldn't be an entry but when I discovered it appeared to have been entered by the family she had worked for, for so many years and also it stated that she was buried in Knotty Ash Church.

I checked for St John the Evangelist and discovered the Burial Register was transcribed only at the Record Office and that the original had been taken back by the Church. Rather than just checking the transcript I telephoned and spoke to the Vicar who allowed me to go along and photograph the entry. I was so pleased that I did as he was able to take me to Grave 152 where I was astounded to see not only a cross, with stone beneath it, but that it gave her exact date of birth 31st August, 1845. The family she worked for, the Rogersons, must have thought a lot of her and perhaps even celebrated her birthday each year. It must certainly have been them who brought her back to Liverpool to be buried and erected the stone. I have discovered that the father was also buried in the same churchyard in 1910.

I spoke with the Cheshire Register Office who should have had the records for Neston, but it seems originals aren't available to be checked and they would only take orders based on the Cheshirebmd site. Unfortunately the GRO also won't do a search based on just a forename "Margaret", birthplace "Neston" and birthdate "31st August, 1845", too much to hope for. So I paid for three birth certificates that seemed most likely to me, doing a cross reference between the indexes and Cheshirebmd and specified the criteria of birthplace and exact date of birth.

Two weeks after I ordered these, on Friday afternoon I missed a telephone call that asked me to contact the GRO about the certificate I had ordered, and then today, despite it being Sunday afternoon I have received TWO refunds for incorrect certificates ....... Watch this space, I am holding my breath until tomorrow.

For anybody else who has outstanding BMD's missing from Cheshire, please take another look as both FreeBMD and CheshireBMD have certainly been updated since the last search, especially as one of the entries seems to be in the right place at the right time - surname KEMP.

Fingers crossed for you Mary. Katie's motto is never rule out a source of information until you do rule it out? Check everything. And I learned that by going on a Local History Course many years ago!!!

Phoned the lady from the GRO, heart sank when she told me the birth was just two days out. Because I had ordered on the phone I hadn't got an email confirmation so couldn't remember the third surname. It was HALL, but I've checked and I think I ordered it because the first name had both Margaret Ann.

As the birthplace is definitely Neston, I've said to go ahead and send me the copy, so now I have more work to do to investigate this child and rule her either in or out. Strangely the baptism does give the abode as Hinderton and father's occupation as Blacksmith. Two more points in her favour!! but parents Charles and Margaret

Well the burial certainly was!! still got a lot of delving to do re the birth, but that's been hidden for so many years ..... something always turns up when you aren't expecting it. You have to have patience in this game, you know what we say - they aren't going anywhere, just waiting for us to find them - eventually!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I think I have a new search on my hands now but at long last believe I have made a bit of headway.

As mentioned above I had a telephone message to call the GRO about the certificate, the woman was helpful enough to ask if I still wanted the certificate as the birthdate was TWO days out. Hummed and haaaed but decided I would give a go and am I so thankful. Here are the details.

Entry 143, 29 August, 1845- Neston - Margaret Ann - Girl - Father Charles HALL - Mother Margaret HALL formerly KENT - Occupation Blacksmith - Margaret Hall made her mark as the Mother, residence Neston. Registered 10 September 1845 - William Smith Registrar.

I'm off to celebrate!!!!!

Things turn up when you least expect them to Lynne, an additional little point that I hadn't posted before was that we had always wondered why Margaret's eldest grandson had a middle name of Hall. Obvious when you think of it isn't it? but it didn't occur to me to think laterally all this time.

It's always said, they are there waiting to be found, they aren't going anywhere.
