Louisa Maud McQuinn - Christening record, but no BMD

Hi All,

This is a strange one!
I've stumbled upon a (Liverpool) Christening record for a child named Louisa Maud McQuinn on Ancestry. Her parents were Alfred and Julia McQuinn - my great grandparents. This was a surprise, and I wasn't aware that Louisa Maud existed! Unfortunately I'm not subscribed to Ancestry at the moment, so I can't access the record to find any more info.

Alfred & Julia were married in 1894 (both aged 22). A daughter (Julia Mabel) was born to them during the year of their marriage: she died aged 5.

I've searched for Louisa Maud McQuinn in the BDMs of various websites, using 1894 year as a starting point, but returned no matches.

Is it possible that Louisa Maud was stillborn (perhaps the stillborn twin of Julia Mabel?) and this is why neither her birth nor death were recorded? Although having said that: would a stillborn baby have been christened?

Any advice/suggestions would be welcomed!

The baptism entry for Louisa Maud McQuinn includes birthdate for her of 25 June 1892. Her parents Alfred and Julia didn't get married until 1894 so I checked FreeBMD for birth entry of 1892 under the mother's maiden name of Whelan and found this entry:

Lousia Maud Whelan West Derby District September qtr 1892 8b 242
found no death entry for her either under Whelan or McQuinn

The 1911 census they declare 5 children born to the marriage, 4 survived and 1 died.

if the child Julia Mabel died aged 5, Louisa Maud is not accounted for.

She is not with them in the 1901 census either

There is a marriage for a Louisa Whelan in 1907 Dec qtr 8b 377 Toxteth Park
On UK BMD the marriage is recorded to William A Harrison Toxteth Park Registry Office or Registrar attended.

No sign of a Louisa Whelan in 1901 census tho'

the 1911 census asks for number of children born "to present marriage" Louisa was born before the marriage of Alfred and Julia so should she have been included?

Gosh ... thanks ever so much to everyone for your input: you've been fantastically helpful! It just never occurred to me that Louisa Maud had been born out of wedlock!
