James Rushton Private

Good Evening, thanks so much for your help regarding William Rushton, I have since found that a James Rushton from Harlington Lancashire is the person I am now looking for he served in the British India as a Private trade was a Weaver. I will check my records and add more information.

Thank you all so much for your information regarding Private James Rushton who was in the H.M. 12th Regiment but I have found his death notice 23/9/1815 he didn't marry a Native women, named Annamah their daughter Mary born 26/9/1809 she was adopted by a Private James King H.M.86 Regiment this took place at Masulipatam India. When James passed on, his friend James King took Annamah for his wife and had more children. Mary later married a Sgt. Edward Marsh on the 8/5/1822 at Bangalore India he was from Kent England, he died on the 23/6/1831 at Poonamallee India aged 37 years old. I am having trouble trying to find Private James Rushton's rightful parents from Haslingden I know that it is a long way back.

Sorry we went out on a limb with incorrect information, I suppose it was only natural with no dates to go by.

I can only suggest that as your search is in north Lancashire rather than south, it may be more pertinent if you were to make enquiries of a forum specialising in that area who might have access to records in the Haslingden and general area.

Hello MaryA you should not be sorry I was overwhelmed by the response and help, it was my mistake not to mention dates etc. How do I find North Lancashire is it on a separate web page.

This society seems to cover the area you are interested in. http://www.lfhhs.org/home.php Just to give you a little area of the geography, Haslingden is near Blackburn whereas Liverpool and our area is along beneath the red line to the south of their area.

I hope they have more specialised knowledge for you.
