Question: Scotts Removals

Post by Roppies »

Thanks for all your help in my previous question....

Searching through my notes of conversations with my late father, I have found references to "Scotts Removals".

There is a link to my family tree, which I have yet to establish, but wondered if anyone has heard of them or knows any info?

All I have is: Scotts Removals, Smith Street, Kirkdale

Run by Billy & Ron Scott.

And that is all I have at the moment! Any light shed would be helpful.

Thank you

No clues as to an approximate date? even a decade might help?

You could send a message to one of the crew with a directory http://forum.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk ... =16&t=6906 or depending on the year you could check the historical directories online http://www2.le.ac.uk/library/find/speci ... irectories probably would only work for earlier years.

Otherwise Ancestry has the telephone directories online so you may get a result in them.

Mary
My father was born in 1931 and lived there till 1947, when he joined the army.
So it would have been in the 1930's or 40's......
That is all I know.

Unless one of the guys are able to check the 1938 directory, your best bet would be the telephone directories. If you don't have your own access to Ancestry, your local library will have it you can use it for free.

1938 Directory

No mention of Scott Removals.
However in Smith Street there was another removal company, maybe they took over them!!

Thomas J Saunders removal contractor at 32 & 34 Smith Street
also at 63 Smith Street
He also had a depository at 95 Smith Street and a warehouse at 101 Smith Street.
Quite an organisation I think.

At 6 Smith Street a Mrs Lavinia Scott green grocer
8 Smith Street Mrs Lavinia Scott patent medicine vendor

Maybe she was a relative?
No individual Ron Scott or Billy (William? ) Scott listed

Not a great deal of help really, but possibly the company was formed later
