Do any members have a relation in their family called John Joseph Donovan? Born 1882 in West Derby and his parents were Patrick Donovan and Ann Daly. After he went to prison in 1903 he seems to have disappeared.

This would appear to be 'John Joseph' in 1901... At the time of the census he was a serving soldier.

Sorry I made a mistake when I put the information in. It John who is the father. John Joseph also had a sister called Margaret who left her husband Georger McKinley and three daughters in 1918 if any one has any information on her after this date I would be grateful.

If this is the Margaret you are referring to..
[1891] DONAVAN, Margaret Dtr 1 1890 - West Derby, Lancashire
Her exact date of birth would be of assistance in finding what happened to her.

Birth: DONOVAN, Margaret
Registration district: West Derby
Year: 1890; Jun qtr
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 578

Or is this her?
Birth: DENOVAN, Margaret Amelia

Year: 1889; Dec qtr
Volume no: 8B; Page no: 519

Do you have the documentary evidence that he was in prison in 1903 and if so where was he being held? Do you have any knowledge of how he came to be in prison?

Hi,
What is the source of the specific year 1918? And can you confirm that this is Margaret's deserted husband?

Thank you for the replies.
Margaret was born 23/03/1890 in West Derby and married George McKinley 7/11/1909. It is just family story that she ran off with a soldier but her daughters confirmed she disappeared when they were children. At one time they lived over a shop in Old Swan.
As for John being in prison, his army papers say he was discharged in 1903 after serving a 3 month sentence given by the civil court. He was signed off as a bad character.
