Robert Jennings buried Walton Cemetery no CWGC headstone

Post by MaryA »

Resurrecting an old topic as Vic has brought it to my attention that even if our original poster had two soldiers mixed up, at least the one Education Officer identified as being buried in Walton Cemetery, should have a CWGC headstone?

Original topic http://forum.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk ... 30&t=11883

Can somebody else give us an opinion as to whether it should or not?

His Pension Records state that the Pension should be cancelled from the end of the quarter in which the man died. Death 24.1.19. so presumably he was still under the military jurisdiction until that time.

His papers also state that he was in 4th Kings Regiment, not 9th and was a L/C (Lance Corporal?)

Age 25 years 30 days, (seems to be on 27 August, 1914) a Brass Polisher, born Bow, London, which would make his birth approximately 28 July, 1889. Discharged no longer physically fit for War Service on 24.12.16.

I think it will hinge on the cause of death shown in his death cert. The In From The Cold project team may be able to help with the cost if the case is passed to them.

Yes got those Bert, also hoping for an appointment at the archives to see his file at Rainhill, which may do instead of death cert. Also there may be a photograph in the record.
