Baptism & deaths, Twins Julia and Michael Brady Sep qtr 1909

Post by dickiesam »

More tidying for the Brady family...

Are there baptisms online for these children? Fairly sure they are twins.
Need to check their parents are Arthur and Ellen Brady.
Births Sep 1909: Brady, Julia - Liverpool 8b 1 & Brady, Michael - Liverpool 8b 1

And their burials...?
Deaths Sep 1909: BRADY, Julia [0] - Liverpool 8b 1 & BRADY, Michael [0] - Liverpool 8b 1
The burials were on the 2nd July 1909 and I have mislaid earlier paper info regarding them. and

Query resolved by Bert! Above parents are correct.

Hi Blue,
Thanks for the offer but I think once I have cleared up the 1911 census point about how many children had been born up to April 1911 and how many had died, I will have all I need. It looks pretty certain that the child William Brady [bn and dd 1907] was not a child of this family and will be deleted from this tree.

RC then as they are buried in Ford. Can you figure out which church they might have been baptised in, possible I could take a look. Definitely not online as baptisms end at 1906.

The local RC church where the children were baptised was St Augustine's RC in Great Howard Street. These Bradys are distant relations of mine my great grandmother Mary Holland formerly Brady's father was Arthur's cousin. My Holland family were also living in Dublin Street c1911 both families appear there in Gore's Directory 1911.

So you already have those baptisms? but presumably not that for William 1907 Porter Street, would that church still be the one?

I still have the available baptisms and burials for these children from a while back as DS has an interest in this family. The available baptisms we have already from St Augustine's:-

David Brady, 1900
Jane Brady, 1902
Margaret Brady, 1904
Ellen Brady, 1906 (died aged 11 weeks, buried 11 Oct 1906)

Baptisms not available online:-

Arthur Brady, 1908
Julia Brady, 1909 (died aged 9 hours, buried 2 Jul 1909)
Michael Brady, 1909 (died aged 1 day, buried 2 Jul 1909)
Thomas Brady, 1910 (died aged 8 months, buried 10 Aug 1911)
Christina Brady, 1912 (died aged 4 months, buried 25 Apr 1912)

William Brady won't be related on account of the address he lived in Porter Street this family lived continuously in Dublin Street. The 1911 Census says three children had died so that would refer to Ellen, Julia and Michael. William Brady was likely also baptised at St Augustine's the church is nearer to Porter Street than Dublin Street. Doing the maths between the birth of William around August 1907 and Arthur's birth Jan/Feb/Mar 1908 also rules out William being Arthur and Ellen's son.

Thanks for the full response Blue, if I get enough time I will check William's baptism just for completeness.

Thanks for that MaryA. By confirming Blue's info it draws a line under the other births to the Brady family I have an interest in. Much appreciated.

Sorry they aren't connected with yours, I had wondered if the names meant anything even distantly.

Hi MaryA,
Don't be sorry! It is something to be pleased about. :D
I knew there was something wrong with the list I had of children born between 1901 and 1911 to Arthur and Ellen Brady... like a child too many. :)

With the help on the forum to access the baptisms of children who had been born between those years but had died before the census the family is now correct. I was saddened to find that out of 10 live births between 1900 and 1912 five had died including the four youngest. :(

Such a dreadful mortality rate wasn't there, a recent piece of research I did in my family revealed that during a ten year period (ie between censuses) ten children had been born, only two surviving to the next census and shortly after that one of those survivors died leaving only one to grow to adulthood, so sad.
