Just as an aside, there is an marriage in 1863 of Robert Sandham to Alice Thomas at St George Everton, witnessed by Jane Hodson.. I wonder if she is yours, as Thomas and Jane are living in the Everton area in 1861..

Simone and Hilary you both are amazing with the info you are able to find. I am now going to assume that there was no marriage for Thomas and Jane and that Edwards birth was not registered and move on. The infomation that you have found has that been on the internet? Thank you both again.

Yes all on the internet using Ancestry, Family Search and Lancashire BMD.
Edward's birth could have been registered but under Jane's name if you see what I mean.
