Eschwege and Annoni families

Post by edozzy »

I am researching my great grandmother's family - the Eschwege family - who lived in Liverpool from around 1870 onwards.

I am interested in knowing a number of things
1. History of Jewish families/community in the West Derby area of Liverpool around turn of century (1870 - 1910)
2. Whether anyone has any photographs of Benson Street, Hope Street or Kensington (where my family used to live) from turn of century.
3. Whether anyone knows anything about Beatrice Eschwege who died in Sefton in Liverpool in 2001.

I am also interested in the Annoni and Lennon families who also lived in Liverpool and would be interested to know if anyone else is researching them or has a connection to them.

Thanks in advance for any help or interest in this enquiry.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I notice Beatrice left a Will, you may get some useful information from this about her relatives https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Wi ... alse#wills

There are many photographs held at the Liverpool Record Office whose catalogue you can search via the link down this page https://liverpool.gov.uk/libraries/arch ... y-history/
Also http://inacityliving.blogspot.co.uk/ is a very good site for Liverpool street photographs
There are also many Liverpool Facebook Groups where members post the old photographs of Liverpool in their possession and I'm sure would check their own personal archives if you asked.

The Liverpool Record Office also hold many archives which you might find useful, especially if your family came from Germany, there are the records of the German Church which might be checked.

Tina, Bert, Mary and everyone else who has replied to my query.
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond.

Firstly I am aware of Simon and his children (including Michael). I am also aware that Beatrice and her sisters did emigrate to the US. However, I wasn't aware that Beatrice had left a will (so thanks for that). I am trying to work out if she or her sisters had any descendents and hence to find distant cousins who might know more about the family. I have gleaned quite a bit from the records for instance I am aware that Simon was a businessman (import/exporter of fancy goods) and I was aware that one of his sons was a pawnbroker. I also have an old photo of him and his wife as well.

Thanks for all your help.
