Hi Hilary, The best way I can describe the finds and know them to be the correct people is to point you to the 1881 Census RG11/3631 p35 [Richmond Row]and check out the RILEYS there ? note all the names and ages.
Then visit 1891 RG12/2928 - p39 [Prophet St.] and note that 'Ann' ELLISON (who I can guarantee is the 'Martha' Riley from the 1881 family), just look at the birth place on the actual document not the transcriptors error - its Pendleton !
She used the names Ann and Annie from that time onwards and even when she joined up with Horatio Roberts later, its been a nightmare to follow the trail.
Same with her Mother - Miss Majury ?
If you then turn the page on that 1891 census to page 40, there is the 1881 family of RILEYS now being called "REILLY'S" with a few additions to the family, and Ann senior appears to be alone possibly William had died, I havent looked into that just yet ?

I Have been doing a lot of research on the Cogill family and have come across some names that match your query. If you would like to PM me we could perhaps exchange information.

Thank You Jim, 'off forum' contact has been made and we are now collaborating on a number of issues that definitely fills out the whole picture and shakes a few brick walls for both of us
And yet another forum success !!
Earlier this summer this thread was noticed by a very senior lady who recognised that she belonged to the family of Frances Ann Ellison and contacted me through the forum.
She did turn out to be my Cousin and also had never known any family existed outside of those she grew up with and are sadly no longer with us.
We have since met on a few occasions and it has been wonderful to share some time with a lady who, in the winter of her years is not beaten by I.T and is quite active on the Internet albeit a very simplistic presence. Where there is life there is always hope. She's in her mid80's and whilst not as physically fit as she would wish for herself she at least has most (if not all) her mental capacities and fairly good recall given time.
I shall be meeting with her Daughter very soon and hopefully another level of discovery.

It's not clear if you've made contact with anyone from the Mournes area of Northern Ireland. If you need some photographs, just let us know the subjects.
Hans was indeed a common enough Christian Name in County Down. I've never heard of Majury here.

Hello VicMar1,I think I may be of help to you, I am Annie Frances Miller daughter of Annie Frances Ellison. I have lots of memories of my aunt, Leticia Brown nee Ellison, known to us as auntie Tish I used to stay with her and my cousins when I was a child. I have a lot of information to share. If you would like to know more I'm happy to help.
I am 85 years old so you need to be quick.
In 2015 I received this mail from a newly discovered cousin in Southport and we have since met on a number of occasions. A lovely lady who despite all manner of handicaps kept her wits and smiled at every day.
It is now my sad duty to record that this lady passed away during the first week of 2017 and I feel so privileged to have found her and added a new dimension to both of our lives.

I was very sorry to hear this Vic, I know you met at a very mellow point in her life but you did manage to build a relationship which I suspect benefited you both.
