My 2nd Great Grand Uncle James Hague was born in 1823 Manchester moved to Widnes and married Rose Hannah Dumbill.
On the St Mary's Church (West Bank Widnes) inscription it say's he died aged 43 in 1865 - accidently drowned.
How can I find out the circumstances, the newspapers for Widnes at that time are not published then.
Any help much apprieciated
Andrea

Re: James Hague - accidently drowned
Thank you so much Barbara for your promt reply, this is brilliant, not that he drowned, but I have now pieced another leaf in my family tree.
I have been searching on fmp but never got any joy but then again I am not quite sure if I am searching correctly. I should have asked on here long before now.
Thank you again

Re: James Hague - accidently drowned
I only joined the British Newspaper archive site last night. Currently on offer for £1.00 for a month. Use the code SOG15, yours was my first lookup, glad to be of assistance.

Re: James Hague - accidently drowned
When searching for articles on the newspaper Archive you have to think of key words rather than the name of the person you are looking for. The transcribers for the newspapers will only insert the headline Ie Man found drowned. the headline. If you put drowned Widnes you may have got a hit. Not a user friendly Archive.
