He appears to be living at his sister's (Helena M STONE) in 1901 at 90 Hale Road, Walton On The Hill, aged 23yrs born Liverpool (a merchant's clerk)

Marriage to Edith Emily PLIMMER on 19 Feb 1911 at Richmond Chapel, Breck Rd, West Derby where he is resident of 34 Bowley Road (a shipping clerk) but in the 1911 census the address listed is 83 Newcombe Street, Anfield (a freight clerk)

I'm speculating in 1939 in Litherland Wilfred B JONES (1877) and Edith C JONES (1880) are the same couple

After his marriage in Feb where he had been a single man at the address, he moved to a new residence with his wife and had 2 bro in laws to accommodate. That's my suggestion for the change of address.
There doesn't appear to be a Wilfred O Jones born in the birth year and no other record in census so perhaps the death is your Wilfred transcription error?

Looked at the "original" and it does say O not B - though there is this above his entry:

He's in the 1938 Directory at 5 Wellbrow Road, Walton. (Jones, Wilfred Byron, clerk)

thanks for that - 3 entries for that address in 1939 register - one unnamed, one as Ellis and one as Morgan - very confusing!

This couple are at 4 Pennington Road, Litherland in 1939, it would seem possible that the death entry is right but maybe enquire at Sefton Cemetery to see if they might be helpful before buying the death certificate.
