I have lost the method of finding an index of 18th & early 19th century Lancashire wills proved at Chester but now held at Preston. The Lancs archives website has sent me round in circles.
I am looking for any for surname Baines of Liverpool.
Thanks for usual help found here.

FMP have "Cheshire Wills and Probate" records but I don't have a subscription. A quick look on the free search brings up the following:-
James Baines, Probate year: 1818, Occupation: Esquire, Residence: Liverpool
William Baines, Probate year: 1831, Occupation: Cow Keeper, Residence: Liverpool

I couldn't get it quite right from Google on the iPad so I searched here (our site) until I found it and then copied and pasted it!
