Perhaps Elizabeth's death cert may hold some clues, Widow of.... if in fact she was.

If the Children ended up at Nugent, it's possible that something may appear in Liverpool Workhouse Registers.

Her death is registered Liverpool so it's possible that she died there. I'll check it out.

Peter Lawless snr was last recorded in October 1918 as being the father of the boys in the Nugent Care Catholic Care books, as advised to me by the researcher in Liverpool records office. He was also noted as husband of the deceased when Elizabeth died in the workhouse in June 1918 so unfortunately it rules out the Peter Lawless who died in the Persian Gulf in Jan 1918. Thanks so much though as while I am used to checking variations of the name Lawless, I never before thought of checking the spelling Sawless, so I'll be checking that out in future, thanks Bert.

Sorry, just to clarify, it was Peter Lawless jnr (1909-1960) who was photographed in his army uniform. As far as I know his father Peter Lawless snr (1869-?) was a general labourer.
