Hey, you're right.
I had found another Samuel son of Mary Memery. Not mine.

This is the tenth child. I knew they lost one of ten (9 survived, stated in the 1901 census.)
- now I found his death in 1900 as well as the birth. A mystery solved.
Thank you!
and goodnight....

Griffith's Valuation of Dublin in the mid-1850's has a James Memory in Monkstown, close to where you have placed them later. May be worth looking at:

National Archive: William Winter Memery

The name is mis-spelt with an 'o', so doesn't come up on a search of 'Memery'.

Wow I woke up this morning and am amazed at how much has been posted on this. First of all the topic has been changed so that it's obvious it's your post.

As for the Marguerite Memery marriage, luxor is right, if you check the indexes both she and Arthur W have the same year, quarter and reference, and also the name next to theirs who they married, so definitely each other.

findmypast have lots of seaman's records of the Memerys. Below are some of the better ones, with photos, but there are more... FMP is a subscription site, but they regularly run introductory offers.

[A subscription to FMP includes the British Newspaper Archive. It would be interesting to search for the ship names after you've established them.]

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the new info.

MaryA was that marriage record from FreeBMD? I see now, I hadn't found this .

Luxor, looks like I need a sub to findmypast - I did have one but not now!
Especially pleased about the missing child Samuel.

I'm pausing for a day or two, will be back - Alison

Yes I did find it there as that was where I looked not knowing if you had a subscription to a paid site, however the indexes are the same everywhere.

Have you tried your local library? In Liverpool we have access to both Ancestry and Findmypast available for free in the main library, worth trying one near to you. Alternatively try and use a two week free trial, it often works even if you have had a previous subs. or try a different debit card.
