Family of Ida Smith Greylish (Graylish) and George Greylish

Post by Tenderfoot »

I am looking for the family of my paternal Grandmother's sister and her husband. My great-aunt was born Ida Smith in Wides. Her father was Lewis Smith. Ida had four siblings, my Grandma Alice Alma who married Eric Smith, Ella who married Robert FitzGerald and 2 brothers Tom and Frank. Ida and George had a son Gordon ( I have family info) who married Cathleen (some say she was actually Catherine) Lancaster, a son Stephen and I believe 4 daughters. To my knowledge all the children were born in Widnes. Any information would be appreciated.

George Greylish & Ida Smith married in 1922 at Christ Church Ellesmere Port Cheshire

http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk

9 children were born to that marriage between 1922 & 1943 but as some of those children may still be alive you will need to look up their names yourself using freebmd. Just search for Greylish births with mothers maiden name Smith - all were registered in Prescot

Freebmd can also be used to look for their marriages

Catherine Lancaster, 1927, Prescot, 8b 1194, Mothers maiden name, Harrigan.
Travel records to Canada give Catherine's birth, 15/3/1927.

There isn't a marriage recorded for a Lancaster/Harrigan, combination.

There's a marriage, Edward Lancaster/ Johanna Halligan, 1925, Prescot, 8b 830 ?

Hi and welcome to the forum. I think it might take you a little time to read and digest the details that have been found but perhaps later you could let us know your thoughts.

Nice to see you popping in Carole! and Bert as usual seems to have taken over the night shift with a few good points too.

PS Mississauga has a beach and Dairy Queen? I was surprised when I saw your location, I have a friend in Port Elgin. :)
