Kings Liverpool Regiment 1905 - 1911

Hi All,

My Gt Grandfather Thomas Graham (Kings Liverpool Regiment 1st Btn 9005) served in the Kings from 1905 when he turned 18. He was born and brought up in Carlisle so not sure how he came to enlist in Warrington. Upon completion of his service in 1910/11 time moved back to Carlisle area. He was later re-called in August 1914 for the Great War and lost his life on 20th September 1914 after the Asine.

I am interested to know more about life in the regiment and where abouts he would have been during his period in the Army 1905-1910.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If we are unable to give much detail on here, I think perhaps the place to make an enquiry about the Kings Liverpool is at the Liverpool Museum where there is a great exhibition and the archivist has particular knowledge about this Regiment.

The website 'regiments.org' says that the 1st Battalion of the King's was in Burma in 1902, India from 1905 and Ireland (Fermoy) 1908, then Aldershot 1912.
The 2nd Battalion was the only other regular unit then, in Singapore 1903, India 1904 onwards, including all WW1, I think.

There would have been depot staff at Warrington, probably training drafts to go to the service units.
