Re: Heads up
Set your timers for tomorrow
"fascinating print of the newly-built shipyard at Cammell Laird appears in a new BBC2 series which starts on Thursday, January 4, telling the story of Britain through the history of a single terraced house in Liverpool."

Just seen the BBC2 program on the house in Faulkner St. Wonderful, and very interesting and very relevant to some of my research

Re: Heads up - Falkner Street House
I enjoyed the programme originally thinking that they would be moving on to another property next week and thought it would be disappointing that there would be only a few years covered, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it will continue to come forward next week. Definitely one to set the reminder for.

Thoroughly enjoyed this programme - found it interesting and informative. Can you imagine the research that must have gone into finding an appropriate house to research?!

Found this of great interest.
I live in North Yorkshire (I'm a missionary!!) in a house built in 1897 and have embarked on exactly the same quest to trace the family history of each of the occupiers. They are a fascinating bunch and the links to places that I also have links to is uncanny. The occupier in 1911 for example was also born in Liverpool. Small world.
I recommend anyone who lives in an old house to try this. It really leads you down some interesting paths. I have found connections to the invention of a torpedo used by RN in WW1, the building of the overhead railway in Boston Massachusetts, the railway from Delhi to Agra and the Indian Mutiny of 1857. YES all connected to families living in MY house!! The local District Nurse was based here and when first occupied it was used as a private school for girls (Governess and 2 pupils) - Its not a mansion just an ordinary 4 bedroom double fronted house.

Re: Heads up - Falkner Street House
Research into your house and occupants need not be confined to old property. Mine is a conventional semi built in 1930 and we are the second family to live in it. We have a note of our predecessors and of the land use before the house was built. This will be updated and passed on to our successors, whoever and whenever...
Looking forward to the next programme.
