Walter Carr b 1876

Post by lynne99 »

I thought I had asked about Walter before, but I have searched and can't find it. (Old age , I think)
In the 1891 census, Walter is living at Giddy Gate Lane, Maghull. He is with Richard and Jane Manchester (My relatives). He seemed to have been left with the family at a very young age. His place of birth is Cartmel and I believe the family were Catholics. I cannot find his birth on GRO or free BMD. It would be lovely to find his parents and why he ended up in Maghull with the Manchesters. I'm sure you can work your Magic.
Thanks Lynne

If any one is going to the Liverpool records office and has some spare time, his marriage is on Lancashire BMD on ref REG_WD/267/15 Spouse Jane Riding 1910 registrar attended. Registers held at Liverpool. If not I will send for a certificate.
Can't find it on Free BMD so can't order from GRO

There is a FreeBmd entry for Jane Carr, Dec qr 1910, WD , 8b, p.892, but no reference to Carr. Only three names show when looking for the ‘other half’.

I think Daggers means Jane RIDING. unfortunately the entry in Lancsbmd May mean either a Register Office marriage I which case it wouldn't be availab!e at the TO our else a RC of non conformist marriage in which case the church would need to be known for a look up. You may have some luck on ancestry off it is RC. Added after - no not on ancestry

There is a FreeBMD marriage entry for Walter in Q4 1910:

CARR Walter, W.Derby, 8b, 392

Looks likely the 392 may a typo as the original image is not very clear. The image for Jane's marriage entry does clearly say 892.

Just to confirm the hard work of others here, FMP's images of the BMD indices clearly shows 892 as the correct page for both parties.

Thank you for that Andy and welcome to the forum. Just to confirm that the indexes are the same ones used everywhere, either FMP, Ancestry, FreeBMD etc, only the transcriptions differ depending on who reads it and types.
