Edward and Ellen Lloyd Cockspur st (Dale St)
My name is Colin Loyd I am at present researching my paternal line. All my digging has turned up the Lloyd family living in Heath st ,off Myrtle st in Liverpool 8 from the late 1800's from my Great grand father Harrison ,his wife Edith and children Fredrick,Janet (my grandmother) Harry, Edith,Thomas,Elizabeth, Florence and twins Alfred and Mildred ,residing at 15 Heath st. Harrison's father was John. mother Elizabeth Harrison.Johns father was a Edward Lloyd and wife Ellen last known address 15 Cockspur st (Dale st area) this is proved by census 1841 showing having had 6 children including Lucy who shows up in 1846 as married ,her marriage cert show her father as being alive then (occupation pipe maker) here the trail goes cold. I would be grateful for any one having any details of this Edward Lloyd.
Re: Edward and Ellen Lloyd Cockspur st (Dale St)
Hi and welcome,
I wouldn't assume from the marriage cert details that father Edward was alive, some churches didn't always record that the father was deceased.
If you check marriages previous and after Lucy's, it will give an indication whether St Phillips recorded fathers as deceased.
Edit, yes some are recorded deceased

Lucy's marriage was registered Sept Qtr, 1846,
The Edward Lloyd death was registered Dec Qtr 1846, still worth checking.

Re: Edward and Ellen Lloyd Cockspur st (Dale St)
Good evening I have a notification of an Edward Lloyd being buried in Liverpool but his last address being Cherry st.How do I prove this my Edward Loyd ,My last solid proof of address is the 1841 census showing Cockspur st The micro film archives in Picton Library for the Gores directory shows no sign by 1851 census of Edward Lloyd's family having an address in this house. So do you have any advice into finding his whereabouts after 1841?

Good Evening Bert, Another thought I had is ,as Lucy was Edwards youngest daughter.Maybe trying to trace Ellen his widow, but how.?John his youngest son was my great great grandfather and I can track him down to my generation. I want now to pick up who was Edwards parents? was he born in Liverpool? did he have brothers or sisters. This will take me back to the 1750's but I am at a standstill at present. Colin

As Cherry Lane is in Kirkdale there are two possibilities for the St Mary's Cemetery, one is that it is the Church of St Mary's, Walton on the Hill which is at the flyover (next to the Black Horse), the other is what is now Lester Gardens on Walton Road https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.43205 ... 312!8i6656
Where did you find the details of the burial so that we might be able to check.

Re: Edward and Ellen Lloyd Cockspur st (Dale St)
Edward Lloyd married Ellen Molyneux, 1816, St Nicholas, Liverpool.
Their first born was John Lloyd, 1817, died 1818,
Baptised, St Nicholas, 10 Aug, 1817
Address, New Milk Street,
The following children from 1821 were all born at Cockspur St and Lucy gives that address for her marriage in 1846.
If Edwards death took place before the 1851 census, it's seems likely he was residing at that address when he died, though Cherry Lane is close.
Where do you have son John, bn 1832 in the 1851 census?

Re: Edward and Ellen Lloyd Cockspur st (Dahttps://www.lswlfhs.org.uk/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=2le St)
Good morning, Thank you for the information the next pieces of evidence I have on John Lloyd is his baptism details "St Peters 12 Jan 1832 parents Edward and Ellen giving his fathers occupation as Labourer then his marriage to Elizabeth Harrison his age given as 24 recording his father as Edward Lloyd My problem is ...how do I go back to Edwards birth, marriage and to prove the burial of E Lloyd of Cherry lane is the husband of Ellen and father of the people I believe to be my relatives?I i.e.
John and Elizabeth are definitely the parents of Harrison my Gt grandfather. I may go down to Picton Library today and seek more help of their excellent team. Colin

They will still ask you the same relevant questions - searching for a birth/baptism prior to 1837 isn't straightforward, Bert's questions are extremely relevant as you need to look all round a subject rather than in a straight line.colin lloyd wrote: ↑28 May 2019 10:02I may go down to Picton Library today and seek more help of their excellent team. Re: Edward and Ellen Lloyd Cockspur st (Dale St)
Bert, is it very presumptive to assume The 1st born of Edward and Ellen (John) was he named after his father. You have shown me both his 1st son(infant death) and last son were both John.I so am I looking for a John Lloyd born in the early 1700's? Colin

Re: Edward and Ellen Lloyd Cockspur st (Dale St)
Concerning the Cherry Lane death for Edward Lloyd,
At 53 Cherry Lane, 1851 census,
Benjamin Lloyd, bn 1811
Bridget Lloyd,
Children,
HO107 P2178 F656 Page32,
Edward Lloyd may have had a connection to this family, perhaps father?
Worth a quick check.

Re: Edward and Ellen Lloyd Cockspur st (Dale St)
Bert Do you think then I am barking up the wrong tree ,thinking the E Lloyd of Cherry Lane is not the man of Cockspur st? If so would that mean my Mr Lloyd died earlier or later than. 1846 If you have access to the 1851 census could I see if any of his children appear on it i.e. Martha, Edward Jr Lucy, or john the younger. How do I access the 1851 census without taking up your valuable time? Colin
Re: Edward and Ellen Lloyd Cockspur st (Dale St)
Colin,
We all bark up many wrong trees and will always continue to do so, at least what is found is on file for further use.
The Cherry Lane address might be just a coincidence, so don't dismiss anything.
The death I posted earlier also needs to be investigated, Edward Lloyd, 1846, aged 51, dec Qtr, 20 304.
There isn't that many who died between 1846 and 1851, Liverpool area.
Remember, ages on the 1841 for over 15s were rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5, Edward's given age was 45.
(45 to 49) Birth 1792-1796
Do you have Ancestry or FMP for the 1851 census?
If not, https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/2563939
