3 deaths between 1846 and 1851 fall close to the required age for Edward.

The age given at death and accuracy depends on whether the informer knew it exactly, hence the reason it's best to check if it appears just a few years out.

Liverpool deaths, 1846-1851

Edward Lloyd, 1846, age 51, 20-304

.. .. 1847, age 57, 20-332, Cherry Lane.

.. .. 1850, age 49, 20-205

I meant no disrespect , and I am listening to Ber'ts more knowledgeable advice, unfortunately this frustrates me as i feel the nearer you get , the further you seem away
I think I need to exercise more patience with my search please accept my apology if I have caused any offence Colin
No need at all for apologies. Over the years we have just been used to looking all around a subject and keep all avenues in mind. Then, but often not in a way we expect, a piece of evidence will show up that clicks into place and makes sense of the rest.

Colin,

I've been scratching an itch, can you tell us what led you back to Edward Lloyd (pipe maker)

John Lloyd married Elizabeth Harrison 16 March, 1858, John was a Gardener and so was his father, Edward Lloyd.

The couples first child was Elizabeth, 1860, Liverpool, baptism, John Lloyd, Gardener.

Being careful not to cross over families, it appears the first census Elizabeth is on, 1861, ( Not definite yet)

John Lloyd, 27, Head, Bn, Ellesmere, Shropshire,
Elizabeth Lloyd, 27, wife, Bn, Birkenhead
Elizabeth Lloyd, 1, daughter, Bn, Liverpool.

Can any kind soul get sight of a baptism at St Mary's Birkenhead,

Janet Emily Lloyd, 1865
Parents, John and Elizabeth Lloyd

Still some bits to sort, this census connects the families,

1871,

Elizabeth Lloyd 34, Birkenhead
Margaret Lloyd 8 Liverpool
Janet Lloyd 6 Liverpool
Thuirne Lloyd 3 (Transcription error) Minnie, Liverpool

Minnie married from Chestnut St, father, John Lloyd, Gardener.

Harrison married from Chestnut St, father, John Loyd, Gardener.

Janet Emily married, same as above.

Looks like John Lloyd was born in Ellsmere, Shropshire and not Liverpool, which may rule out Edward Lloyd, pipe maker.

Hello all, OK this all started with my paternal grandmother Janet White nee Lloyd who was defiantly the daughter of Harrison Loyd and Edith Lloyd nee Barnes. Harrison( Mother was Elizabeth Lloyd nee Harrison hence my Great granddad being called Harrison. Elizabeth Harrison was from ( I think Leasowe) on her marriage cert her fathers(Thomas Barnes) occupation is Slater .Harrison's father is shown as John Lloyd occupation Gardener marriage details are..18th Nov 1894 in Liverpool
John Lloyd shows his marriage to Elizabeth 16th March 1858 church line is blank as is the whole top line their address is given as Clifton st i assume this is somewhere on the Wirral(brides church) Elizabeth's dad is shown as Henry Harrison( occupation Waterman) and John's dad shown as Edward Occ. Gardener
I get the connection to Edward through the 1841 census tying in dates(date of birth) John Lloyd now living in Cockspur St with his :mother Ellen siblings..Edward Thomas,Martha,Lucy Henry William .....Do yo think my Cockspur st has led me off the track? Colin

Clifton Street was/is in Liverpool, even if they never lived in Liverpool at the time, they could have used the address for the Banns and to marry in the parish.

Edward Lloyd, pipe maker, no longer looks favourable.

Bert ,you are bang on the money.i think I am heading over the water ,My Gt Grandfather Harrison could have grown up in Bikenhead Tranmere? I know he had a sister Alice and as a kind soul has furbished me with another Baptismal cert for Janet Emily .My Gt Grandfather Harrison appears next Southport in a census form then aged 19 living and working at the Prince of Wales as a jr porter. This ties in as he worked as a porter when he turns up in Liverpool. before starting a carters/ coal merchants (horse and cart) This to the best of my Knowledge fact. The head scratcher for me now if Cockspur st Edward is not his father how do I find the real Edward? Is he as you suggest from Ellsmere Colin

Bert , It seems to fit into place now, You must be a dab hand at this Family history. How far have you got with your family?and have you been doing it long?I first got interested though my Dads curious beginnings,As I am 1st generation Liverpool/Irish( My Mum was from rural Co Rosscommon ) and Dad from Liverpools Toxteth. It has turned up some Heart breaking stories. So my watch word now is "If you don't want to find out don't look"
Again I would like to thank you for your time and efforts. Though this forum I have learned more in a week than my stumbling around in the dark for 2 years

Colin,

The truth is, we never stop learning, there's always a trick or two we pick up from each other. I've been at this malarkey for many years and a few years ago, more or less, stopped doing my own tree. I reached where I wanted to be and that was that. Some people have a position they want to get to and some want to get back to Adam & Eve, both are fine, there's no set rules. Only rule is be certain yourself in what you find or helped with, check everything, no matter where it's from.

Just to add, the best place to learn is by being part of a forum, this one I must say has very helpful and experienced researches who will go out of their way to help.
