Hi,

I have been tracing the family of James Heaps, who was born in Shevington in 1802 and have gone back as far as I can, with his birth. I would really like to trace the family back further and would appreciate any help.

Frank

Hi

As I have people born in Shevington I know they were often baptised at St Wilfrid's Standish as Shevington was then within that parish. I had a look on www.lan-opc.org.uk website. This is a wonderful website were volunteers are busily transcribing parish registers. The Standish page has baptisms for the time you want. There I found

28 December 1806 James Heaps son of William Heaps and Margaret
Abode Shevington

I know this makes him a bit younger than you thought but at that time people didn't have the same need to know their exact date of birth so agesgiven on census may often be not quite right. I certainly reckon he's a good contender.

Have a look on the site and see what else you can dfind there are certainly Heaps there.
