Edmund Kenneth Buck - WW2

Hi, it's my turn to look for info. This is on behalf of a contact in New Zealand who is trying to find out something about the WW2 Army service of Edmund Kenneth Buck. I know it's recent but we do have some very knowledgeable military history folk on this forum, so I ask for latitude.

It's a long shot but Edmund (my contact's Uncle Kenny) was born 7th April 1914 in West Derby and died in Lambeth, London, in 1977. He appears to have enlisted with the Liverpool Kings Regiment and was eventually in Burma with the Chindits where he seems to have been at the end of the war in the Far East. The last time my contact saw him was when he was 9 and Uncle Kenny was going off to war. Uncle Kenny did marry when he came home but there were no children and his wife died in 1979.

There's already a post on the Liverpool Old Pals forum so any help or pointers appreciated.

I looked in findmyp*** in their Army Roll of Honour WW2
There are 4 Bucks listed. None with the birthplace of Lpool or Lancs.
Albert, Edward E, Sidney & Wm...Yorks, London, Norfolk & Portsmouth.

Hi Tina,
I gather that Uncle Kenny came through WW2 as one of the lucky ones, without serious injury. So he wouldn't appear in the casualty lists. I am going to run down the two URLs that Pegasus posted to see if there is any reference to the Chindits' campaign.

It might be that as the nephew your friend could apply for his Uncle's army records (as he and is wife are deceased and there are no children).

This costs £30 and takes up to 6 months. I'll find the address and post later. I ahve visitors who need breakfast!!

Hi, Dickiesam,Tina, Mary A, Education Officer, Mark Abbot. First my apologies for forgetting to "Thank You All" for your help. I thought about obtaining the records from Kings Liverpool Regiment, but the cost put me off. As I had other TNA payments I was going to need.
3 weeks ago I received an email from a chap, living in the South of England. Asking about my uncle Ken, he is in his late 40's i would think. My uncle Ken did marry again to a widow lady. She may have been married before as well. It seems this chap was adopted by them in the mid 60's. He is a bit confused over this, so have suggested to him he gets in touch with the Adoption Society. He has an appointment with them this week. My uncle Ken died in 1977 and his wife 1979. There are 3 different death certificates for them both. But won't go any further mentioning this. As I wouldn't want to hurt his feelings. I have told him I will apply for the Records of uncle Ken when he knows more about his adoption and what happened. With his two parents dying within 2 years of each other. Thank You All once again.
