Hi Simone,
Ancestry seem to have a major transcription error...
The 'correct' entry from 1871 would appear to be:
PRENDERGAST, James - Head - 28 - Bootmaker - Ireland.
PRENDERGAST, Jane - Wife - 25 - Warwickshire, Whitnash.
PRENDERGAST, Henry - Son - 5 - Cheshire, Birkenhead.
PRENDERGAST, Eliza - Dtr - 2 - Cheshire, Birkenhead.
PRENDERGAST, James - Son - 0 - Cheshire, New Brighton.
PRENDERGAST, Eliza - Sister - 26 - Ireland, Clonmel.
Address: Tollemache Street, Liscard, Birkenhead.
Piece: 3753 - Folio:71 - Page:60
So rare and so valuable... there is an entry for the town of origin for Eliza, James' sister!

..and where was John William Davies?Where was Mr Coventry
Looking at the timelines, the 1911 census is the only bit of the story which seems odd:
1901 census: Norah Prendergast living on Wirral
Q2 1901: Norah marries Edward Biggs
Dec 1901: Jessie May born. Baptised as West but registered as Davies. Looks like Norah is now with John William - looks like her and Edward had separated. This would explain why she doesn't marry JW.
1903: Jane Helen born
1904: Norah born
1908: Sarah born
Mar 1911: Norah marries Harry Coventry.
1911 census: Norah still shown as Norah Davies. Living in Liverpool.
Harry and Norah had a daughter Marjorie born in Q4 1911:
Births Dec 1911 (>99%)
Coventry Marjorie Prendergast Wirral 8a 728
However I can find any sign of Harry, Norah or Marjorie after that

Alison
hmmm Alison how puzzling... and we've run out of census now to find Marjorie on
can't see a Marriage off hand... wonder if she and Harry still together but using another name
mind you can't even find Harry or his dad on previous census....

if she found she was pregnant to Mr Coventry that may be why she married him.. although it doesn't seem to have bothered her before
(maybe the birth reg in oct but born in aug/sep)
within about 4 weeks of marriage she is back on her own again, perhaps Mr Coventry didn't stick around..... she then has Marjorie on her own, and although she has to register her as Coventry, is she living now as a Davies

There is a Harry b c 1889 in Neston, so maybe this is him, it could be a 2nd marriage as already married on 1911, to Annie I think, she is down as daughter and he as son.

Re: JOHN WILLIAM DAVIES -NORAH PRENDERGAST
Hi folks tagged the latest dilemma on to past posted because all are relevant
Just had word from someone who is in the Biggs family. They thought that EDWARD ALBERT BIGGS and "my" NORAH PRENDERGAST had a child called HILDA
in 1903.
I have found a HILDA BIGGS born June 1903 in Cheshire.
They also said she married a RALPH C MOWATT which I have also found December 1924 in Birkenhead. She had children, two I found were Mavis M C Mowatt and a Ralph C Mowatt, both of Birkenhead (well I think there hers)
I know Albert had died in 1906 from fatal injuries caused by an accident in the Price Candle factory, because I have the death certificates.
Logic tells me that I then should be able to find HILDA on the 1911 census with her mother, who ever she is........which I cant
My Norah from 1901 -1911 is living with John William Davies and has children and is living in Liverpool..........and every piece of paper work I have seems to put my Norah Prendergast as the one who walked out on Albert Biggs.........and lived over the brush with John Wiliam Davies
Maybe Albert followed suit and lived over the brush with someone and they had Hilda..........but I cant find Hilda on the 1911 census
Please can someone (once again) help

I think you mean what is Norah Prendergast? After all Hilda isn't with her in 1911. So I am wondering if Hilda was taken in by one of Albert's 4 sisters, who perhaps had married?Sue H wrote:Oh DickieSam thats the address on Alberts death certificate!!

Re: JOHN WILLIAM DAVIES
But what about
Jessie May 1901........Jane Helen 1903.........Norah 1904......Sara 1908
On the 1911 census while John was away, she stated she had 5 children 2 died, she couldnt have managed two in 1903.
And all Jessie May's details put Norah living in Liverpool with John Williams from after 1901...........
Masquarading as WEST on Jessie's baptism and then as Davies nee Prendergast on her birth certificate
What a pickle!!
Maybe my nan did have something to hide after all

Just a thought she also married Harry Coventry and in 1928 left for Canada with her daughter Majorie Coventry........ Hilda Biggs had married in 1924!! so that would explain why she only had one daughter with her
