Baptism - William [Thomas?] Pierce.
Baptism - William [Thomas?] Pierce.
As part of the saga of my ongoing research into the family of Thomas and Elizabeth Fry [nee Pierce] I have come across a baptism on the Liverpool History Projects site that may or may not stir the mud a little further.
Thomas and Elizabeth married in 1883 and had at least 5 children born Fry nee Pierce between 1884 and 1894. Curiosity [a terrible affliction!] caused me to search baptisms for Pierce nee Pierce.. And Bingo, there was one.
William Thomas Pierce, mother Elizabeth Pierce, baptised St Patrick's in 1885 and supposedly bn in 1884.
Problem! The only birth in Liverpool between 1880 and 1885 is this one:
Births Mar 1885: Pierce, William Edward - Toxteth Park - 8b - 167.
And there isn't a William Pierce, mother Elizabeth, in the 1891.
Can a sharp-eyed person find the baptism cert for the above, and a clear, sharp-brained person throw any light or suggestions on this?
I have checked for marriages between 1885 and 1891 in case this EP married and there are 5. Possible spouses are John McIntyre, Percy Goldsmith, John Parry, Alfred Cross and William Matthews. But none show up in 1891 with a wife Elizabeth.

William Thomas Pierce/Pearse/Pearce/Peers.....
Hi Mary,I wonder if the address will be of help - Prince William Street.
Checked the address in 1881 and 1891. No Joy. But thank you for the cert. One thing I did notice is that on the left, above the address, the name appears to be Pearce. And there is a William Thomas P born in the right qtr in Staffordshire..
Births Dec 1884: Pearce, William Thomas - Walsall - 6b - 686.
Thanks for those Simone. I found that William Pearce with a mother Elizabeth in Toxteth in 1891; RG12 - 2931 - 96 - 17. And, would you believe, William Peers also appears to be alive and well in 1891, with a mother Elizabeth! RG12 - 3005 - 141 - 21.just maybe's..

That explains why this one isn't in the 1891..
Births Mar 1885: Pierce, William Edward - Toxteth Park - 8b - 167.
Wonder if the burial is online?

Re: Baptism - William [Thomas?] Pierce.
I'm new to this site, and just searched for "McIntyre" and so your post came up. I have the certificate for John Seymore McIntyre marrying Elizabeth Pierce 16 January 1888. Does that help? I have them at Lima Street in Manchester in 1891 and back in West Derby in 1901 with six children. Perhaps that eliminates something from your search?!

Thanks for picking up the thread as it were. Much appreciated. I finally decided that the William I had found wasn't one of mine. Although I do have a William Fry, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Fry [nee Pierce], I have since confirmed he was born 16th Jan 1880 and died 4th Sept 1904 while an inmate in Kirkdale Industrial Schools, Liverpool. His parents are an ongoing mystery having vanished in 1899 when William and his 5 year old brother Joseph were found wandering the streets and were taken into the care of Liverpool Workhouse. I have also discovered Joseph survived. He was in Olive Mount Homes until 1910 then joined the Royal Navy. He married and had a daughter. He died in London in 1967.
Thanks again.
