Can you tell us where you have the information about the John Dunford/Ann Campbell marriage as there appear to be very few John Dunford marriages in Liverpool and I don't find one to an Ann.

Parents Joanis Dunford, Marioe Annae Mc Monagle
as Mary Ann seems to be much later and missed from your list

If Thomas is John's brother then there is a baptism for a Thomas Dunford, 19th February 1815. Parents John and Martha Dunford. Sponsors John Scallion and Ann Doyle. As John had a daughter named Martha this could be a possibility. Couldn't find baptism for John though. Moya

The place of the baptism of Thomas is in St Mary's RC, the religion falls in with others that have been found for the family.

Just as an extra there is also a baptism for a William Dunford at the same church, same parents, John and Martha. William born 17th February and baptised 22nd February, 1818 (conditionally). Sponsors John Campbell and Catharine Frances.

This extra baptism might be important in linking the Campbell name that Bob believes to be connected.

It might not be so much a hoax as without step by step evidence, how does the lady know that everything is accurate. As we have said previously, every step backwards should be supported by documentary evidence, marriage and birth certificates to confirm parentage and then parish registers and whatever other evidence is available, which if you are to accept this tree they should have let you have sight of.

Bob, I agree 100% with MaryA. Without documentary evidence as to sources of information any step backward is irrelevant and a 'leap of faith'. Those sources should be noted on the tree and be available to you as confirmation.

I can take my family name back to before 1100 in southern England and 1172 in Ireland. Two brothers, Norman knights accompanying Henry the 2nd on his mission to subjugate and conquer Ireland, arrived in Ireland in 1172 and settled on land here after Henry had returned to England. But there's no evidence that I am directly connected to them.

However, there is a gentleman in England who is a direct descendant of one of the brothers and can prove each step and generation with documentation.

john dunford married to martha dunford

Post by bobdunford »

onthe birth and baptism of john dunford born 1812.baptised in st marys .liverpool
william dunford born 1815 baptised in st marys .liverpool
thomas dunford born 1818 baptised in st marys liverpool
james dunford born 1823 baptised in st marys liverpool
helen dunford born 1824 baptised in st marys liverpool
in allthe births and baptism they give the father as john dunford
and themother as martha dunford.

just found this
death records of John Dunford
Age at Death 59 years
Died of fever
Abode Titchfield Street Liverpool
in the Parish of St Anthony
August 12 1837
Birth Date 1778
So if this is the Correct Person and his first Son John was Born in 1812
this would make Father John 34 Years Old when his first son was Born
So i Expect John would have been Married somewhere between 1809 and 1812.

As you haven't yet found the marriage between John Dunford and "Ann" how can you be certain that his fathers name was John? Is it based on his brothers marriage details

Although the family appear on the 1871 census - I can't see them in 1861

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VBFZ-CQF

If she married a Dunford, she would have died a Dunford unless she divorced, remarried etc, or a mistake was made registering her death.
