Hello!
I have read the recent submissions on Cold Casing and offer the following. And I hope I stay within the critieria of acceptability.
Re- Introducing Sarah Ellen Cahill (born Williams) in Oct 1870. daughter of William Williams & Ellen Fox, in Liverpool.
This topic has been extensively pursued by many members on this forum and my new appeal is to people who have come on board perhaps in the last 5 years.
To save you time and energy, forget A...try, FMP, Lancs Records, Free BMD, any death of Sarah Ellen or marriage freely available. People have been there. I have been there. Lately I have delved into Manchester Workhouse deaths in the name of Williams.
Varieties of the spelling of Cahill have been sought. To no avail. believe me, it is difficult. The answer will come from family stories.
The Bones: Sarah Ellen Williams marries James Thomas Cahill 14 June 1887 @ St Anthony's Scotland Road
A child Ellen, sometimes known as Helen is born November 1888
The family cannot be found in the 1891 census
According to family folk lore, Sarah Ellen disappears around 1895, never to be seen again.
I don't need to know anything about Ellen or James Thomas Cahill after 1900. I am O.K.
Therefore I have two requests: Where were the Cahill family in 1891 & what happened to Sarah Ellen post 1895 ?
Could I ask all new (and old searchers to focus on these bits of information:
* Sarah had been brought up by her Aunt Sarah Currie together with her brother Benjamin Williams.
In 1881 census 38 Ascot St, St Martin, Liverpool RG11; Piece: 3600; Folio: 31; Page: 60
Sarah Currie Head M 35 Liverpool
John F son 10 Scholar "
Agnes H daur 7 " "
William son 2 "
Sarah H Williams Niece 10 Scholar "
Benjamin " Nephew 8 " "
Henry Rooney Boarder 30 Shoemaker Ireland
* I believe Benjamin Williams in the 1911 Census was married to Elizabeth & living at 109 Ashfield St Liverpool
* James Thomas Cahill appears to have had one brother, Richard Cahill who in the 1901 Census was married to Mary Cahill with 5 children at 21 Ascot St Liverpool. Ascot St plays a significant part in the whole family's location.
Having pursued the obvious, I feel it might only be possible to locate my Sarah through Benjamin or Richard's descendants. If they are genealogically inclined and have any historical information to share.
Sorry for being so verbose. Any questions, please pm me. I don't want to waste people's time by going over old ground. But I am running out of options.
Thanks
Alan
In response to a request from PeeTee, I add the following:
* Epsom and Ascot streets ran off Latimer St which ran between and parallel to Vauxhall Road & Scotland Road. Virtually level but somewhat inland from Nelson Dock.
* Sarah Ellen's mother, Ellen Williams, is buried in Anfield RC Section 1 Grave 664 Public. Date 1 Oct 1876
* Sarah has her brother Benjamin as previously stated but there was a sister, Barbara who was buried also in Anfield C of E Section Grave 2505 Public. Date 28 August 1876.
I assume this is why Sarah & Benjamin are with their aunt on the 1881 Census.
* If Sarah Ellen did not suicide or leave the country, the chances are she took on someone elses' name and might have died bearing that name.
I'm hoping that descendants of Richard Cahill or Benjamin Williams might have some knowledge of her disappearance.

Alan, have you run the two grave numbers through the cemeteries office to see who else is in them? I've had some good successes doing this and then using the information to look through the burial registers. In one instance it was a big help to link the family together.

I accept the rules of submitting a request which applied when I joined in 2007.
Let's see if there is contact with the Cahill or Williams families re their aunt, great aunt, gg aunt Sarah Ellen Cahill etc., born Williams.

No need Alan, there are very few rules apart from copyright and keeping living people private.alan donougher wrote:I accept the rules of submitting a request which applied when I joined in 2007.
Peetee has gone on much too far and a huge amount of his waffle regarding the manner in which a query is made and how he would run the forum given half a chance, is what provoked the removal of the unnecessary posts that cluttered up your "Cold Case".
Let's hope this new post produces some results from newly found relatives for you.
