Allerton Lodge are extremely unlikely to go to the trouble of investigating a memorial at another cemetery, also the fact that it is a crematorium means that the ashes are very likely to have been scattered on one of the gardens of remembrance, they don't usually have the equivalent of a headstone.

Of course there will be an entry for her but it will merely be an entry of name and date set in the memorial book. You may find that the Rootschat forum members are a more obliging set of people than we are, we could only manage a couple of pages of help for you.

I must admit it is a bit annoying when people post on other sites when we've been helping them with their queries.

you have all been very helpful to me in my search and I did not intend to cause any offence by asking a question on roots, just trying to help my relation . I have always found your members friendly and willing to help in all my searches and would be very upset to lose that kindness.lemondog

Hi Lemondog,
Whenever I get across to the UK and am in the Cheshire area I make a point of going to visit Rose Garden Number 10 at Landican Cemetery just outside Birkenhead where my father was cremated at Landican in early 1954. I was overseas on Her Majesty's Service when he died so was unable to be present at the cremation. When I eventually returned to the UK some months later I went to the office in Landican and asked about Dad's ashes. The staff very quickly found the cremation details in a ledger and told me the ashes had been strewn on Rose Garden Number 10. The roses were still there when I said hello to my best friend, my Dad, last May.

Springwood will have a similar record 'ledger' and could tell you if Elizabeth's ashes were collected or strewn and when. I suggest writing a letter, not an email, to the Springwood office setting out the death and cremation dates and explaining your 'mission' to find her final resting place. I am sure they will deal with your request sympathetically.

Thanks for the nice update, Lemondog. It is good to know that your cousin has somewhere to have his mother in mind and know she is there. It is possible that Springwood might, as some other crematoria do, allow a memorial bench or seat in the Garden of Remembrance with Elizabeth's name on it.
