Ireland has a lot of old Viking settlements... Wexford, Waterford, Carlingford... all 'fjords'... I'd guess a lot of Irish descendants will show Scandanavian.MaryA wrote:... 4 More regions - these appear to be Scandinavia so that is a bit of a surprise.

Well that makes a lot of sense, Wexford being Great grandparents home.luxor wrote: Ireland has a lot of old Viking settlements... Wexford,
But I have a mystery - I believe an English one - as there are two 3rd - 4th cousins, so related to my Great Grandparents (or possibly one generation previous) and the administrator of one of those results was quick to contact me and eager to know how we are related ........ Well either I have a major error in my research - which won't be the first time - or somebody's been a touch naughty!!! as there don't yet appear to be any points of contact with my ancestors.

I think that might be a little before I can reasonably connect my ancestors
Research for another day perhaps.

I've found the same thing: a 3rd-4th cousin who I can see no connection to at all. I've sent them a message but have had no response yet.MaryA wrote: But I have a mystery - I believe an English one - as there are two 3rd - 4th cousins, so related to my Great Grandparents (or possibly one generation previous) and the administrator of one of those results was quick to contact me and eager to know how we are related ........ At least I'm lucky enough to have contact with one of the "cousins" although he doesn't seem to see that I can't pin a match to the names, he's hoping I'm connected to a merchant seaman who went awol, but that is far too recent I think, he's clutching at straws.Karen wrote: I've found the same thing: a 3rd-4th cousin who I can see no connection to at all. Me too! Hubby interprets Ancestry blurb as meaning Iberian could be Spanish or thereabouts persons imported by the Romans to Britain. Did you find anything yourself to shed light on your Iberian dna?Karen wrote:My results are in! Predictably, approximately 75% was British/Irish but the one that has intrigued me is the 9% Iberian Peninsula!
