Katie

This is my man; he is the only W Mowe who served in the W Lancs RE.

Would it be possible for you to copy the names that appear on the roll?

Many thanks

Very many thanks for sending the roll to me. All I now need to do is to see of the club still exists and whether there are any photos!

I have at last received the marriage certificate for William Mowe and Gertrude Evans.

The couple were married in the West Derby Registry Office on the 9th December 1920. William is recorded as being a "Shipping and Sales Clerk" living at 18 Portman Road (Liverpool, I assume). Gertrude's home address is given as "Bryn Tegid, Rhyl Road, Denbigh". Her father is shown as Thomas Parry Evans a "Tailor".

Happily, William's father is shown as being, Joseph Henry Mowe, a "Glass bottle maker". This is my man!

All I now need is a photo!

Many thanks to everyone who has helped me with the research on this chap.

Portman Road is off Smithdown Road, opposite the NE corner of the cemetery.

Thanks Richard,

I work on Allerton Road, so a visit to photograph is on the cards.

I have found his will and await a copy from the Probate Registry. I am hoping this will give me some other leads.
