Tersea Jane Lloyd Search (Maiden Name Unknown)
Tersea Jane Lloyd Search (Maiden Name Unknown)
Hi,
I have a mystery to solve and thought I would throw this out the forum to find out whether anyone has any suggestions as to how I could possibly solve it.
Teresa Jane ?? was born in Armagh, Ireland about 1851 and died in Liverpool on the 27th December 1900 (I have her death certificate, signed by her daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Lloyd).
Teresa Jane ?? married Llewelyn Lloyd, whose place of birth was Liverpool. Llewelyn died in 1902 and I am confident about this as I have found the death certificate (though I don't have a copy) and his daughter's marriage certificate has her father as Lewelyn Lloyd (deceased) dated 1906.
I have been able to find the family on Census 1891 and the the Census 1901 (without Teresa, and Llewelyn is detailed as a widower).
The eldest, Margaret Elizabeth was born about 1881/2, however, I cannot find her birth certificate. The Census lists her as born in Liverpool North and the nearest birth I can find is Chorley 1881, but surely this is isn't classed as Liverpool North. To add to the mystery I cannot find Llewelyn and Teresa Jane on the 1881 Census, nor can I find their marriage certificate.
I am reasonably confident that Llewelyn Lloyd is the son of John Ambrose Lloyd. Llewelyn called his son John Ambrose and the name has continued through subsequent generations. For me to have absolute certainty about this I need his married certificate. I have considered that maybe Llewelyn travelled to Ireland and got married there.
Any suggestions?

Re: Tersea Jane Lloyd Search (Maiden Name Unknown)
I think the best Certificate to go for would be the 1881 birth near enough to the Census.

Re: Tersea Jane Lloyd Search (Maiden Name Unknown)
Thankyou very much for the help you have provided. I was so focused on Margaret Elizabeth Lloyd that I didn't think of getting the maiden name from the birth certificate of her siblings
. I should have provided more information on them aswell, so I apologise for that as it required additional work for those who helped.
I didn't know that there was a child who died young, so that is an additional peice of information.
Thankyou

Re: Tersea Jane Lloyd Search (Maiden Name Unknown)
The birth certificate has arrived for John Ambrose Lloyd 28th Nov 1884, 18 Wilton Street. Father: Llewellyn Lloyd. Mother: Teresa Jane Lloyd, formally Williamson. Llewelyn Lloyd's occupation is fruiterier.MaryA wrote:Good luck with the certificate, keep us up to date.
The 1891 Census has Teresa Jane Lloyd, born in Armagh, Ireland, Age : 40, living with her husband Llewelyn Lloyd (42) and their children Margaret Elizabeth (11), John Ambrose (7) and Cath Ann (4). Llewelyn Lloyd worked as a general porter.
I have searched for Teresa prior to the marriage and found a Theresa Jane Williamson who was born in Liverpool (not Armagh), however this Theresa in the 1891 Census had married (Rigg) and moved to Yorkshire. Her mother, Matilda Williamson had moved with her, so I know that this is a different person.
I have no idea when Teresa moved to Liverpool, why, where she married or why I cannot find them on the 1881 Census. Their son William A Lloyd was born in Nov 1881 in Liverpool (known due to baptism and death record) but like his sister Margaret Elizabeth born in 1882 I have not found their birth certificates.
I have a similar issue on the other side of my paternal grandparents whereby I don't seem to be able to find the marriage certificate around the same time period (about 1880), although I know the names of both people, Thomas Gibson and Jane McGill. I did find a marriage between Thomas Gibson and Jane McGill in Apr-May-June 1898, but that marriage is to late. I have the birth certificate for their son Johnson Gibson b : 1884 where the mother is listed as Jane Gibson formally McGill.
I am pleased to now have Teresa Jane's maiden name, it's a starting point.
Thanks guys

Opps yes....Information re William Andrew Loyd birth certificate previously supplied by Katie

Teresa Jane Lloyd/Williamson (again)
I have a mystery to solve and thought I would throw this out the forum to find out whether anyone has any suggestions as to how I should approach it.
I want to track the marriage certificate for Llewelyn Lloyd and Teresa Jane Williamson. I am seeking advice onwhere to look as I cannot find it through any of the on-line search engines.
More details below:
I found Teresa Jane, aged 40, listed in the 1891 English Census records living at 19 Fortesque Street with her husband Llewelyn (42), John Ambrose (7), Margaret Elizabeth (11) and Catherine Ann (4). Her place of birth is listed as Armagh. My father also told me that his grandmother was Irish.
The first son, William Andrew Lloyd (I think was the first), was born 18 November 1881, thus it could be deduced that they were married before this date. He was baptised on 2nd February 1882 at the parish Church of St Peter and they were living at 18 Wilton Street. The birth certificate lists Theresa's maiden name as Williamson.
John Ambrose and Catherine Anne was also baptised at the parish Church of St Peter. Her children were baptised in C of E church, though Lewelyn Lloyd's father and grandfather had been baptist ministers. I am unclear as to why they were not also baptists, maybe due to Teresa?
I cannot find Teresa Jane Lloyd/Williamson or Llewelyn Lloyd in the 1881 Census and I cannot find any record of Teresa Jane Williamson in Liverpool prior this date. I did find a Teresa Jane Williamson who was born in Liverpool in 1853 and I traced her marriage to another person and she was living with this person when Teresa Jane was with Llewelyn Lloyd.
Teresa died on 27th Dec 1900, aged 49, thus indicating she was born around 1851/2 (I have her death certificate, signed by her daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Lloyd).
I have been able to find the family in the Census 1901 (without Teresa, and Llewelyn is detailed as a widower).
I have spent a long time going through many on-line links hunting for their marriage certificate without success, hunting in Ireland and the rest of the UK. I am aware that not all marriages can be found on line, so I am hoping that it is listed somewhere else. I can't even say which church is a possible marriage place.
The marriage certificate is key for me to be able to attempt tracing Irish roots. County Armagh didn't start recording civil births until 1864, after Teresa's birth, and any other searches I have done on-line to track her birth has not been successful. I have been advised that I need her father's name to track through church records.
Is the next step go to Liverpool records office?
I am planning a trip to Lancashire later this year and I am keen to make it as productive as possible. Any suggestions would be greatfully received.
