Parents must have also died before 1916 as they are given as

Both above are crossed through and replaced with
Mrs Emma Brindle, 41 Botanic Gardens, Edge Hill, Liverpool
Relationship to soldier - ........ him some 15 years.

Do we know the name of the priest at the church at that time? as Emma Brindle signed in the presence of a Clerk in Holy Orders, named W H L Evans ? Address 3 totally unclear, Liverpool.

following census - Joseph Bolton Allen, spouse Jennie Allen. Claim to have been married for 17 years.

Eliza Carroll was named in his service papers as his mother in 1913. Possibly his grandmother? The form completed by his landlady shows that his mother had passed away but his father's address was unknown.
