Isle of man baptism and burials in 18th century.

Post by lynne99 »

Hi, I know you have at least one isle of man enthusiast on the forum. Please could you help me with the following.
My great x 4 grand father Robert Fell (Faile) was born c 1738 Marown and married Christian ARTHURE in 1759 also in Marown.
I cannot find a birth for Christian, whose father may have been called Jon and mother Margaret Kennaught or Kenniagh, and who may have been born c 1743. Any help with this or their deaths and that of their parents would be much welcomed. Thanks Lynne

Might be better asking the IOM forum as there's people on there who know what 18th century registers are and aren't available for each parish and there's people with expertise for particular surnames and family lines:-

As you've found the Isle of Man message board site has some very knowledgable researchers on it. It's the best site for Isle of Man research help.

I'm on there under a different name I contribute now and then but there's more experienced people than me about the Isle of Man and sometimes it's best to sit back and let them do their stuff.

As you are a Family search expert, you may be able to cross my ts. The marriage of John Stevenson and Ellinor Kewley is on Frances' cd transcribed. 17 July 1743 as Jon Steen and Ellinr Kewley. I would love to see the original. I have tried to find on family search, no luck. Are you any better than me. Any way are you not a toffee on the manx site?
Oops forgot to say it was a Marown.

I did try to find that marriage but the images for those years for Marown are not online. These are the images available for Marown:-
