John Dawson Hallowell

I have been researching my ancestor John Dawson Hallowell over the years and need help in concluding his family history please.
John was born 21-10 1843 in Aigburth Vale, parents Thomas & Jane.
Baptised 14-02-1844 St.Peters, Church Street, Liverpool
1851 Census abode Front Lane, Aigburth Vale, Garston, aged 7.
1861 Census abode 42 Bailey Street, (Badley on census form) Liverpool, aged 15.
1871 Census abode 51 Hughson Street, Toxteth Park, aged 27 unmarried. occupation soda water bottler.
1881 Census abode 36 Nelson Street, Liverpool, aged 37 unmarried ( unclear), occupation car driver.
1891 Census abode 71 Rathbone Street, Liverpool, aged 48 single, car driver.
1900 Gores Directory 45 Rathbone Street, Liverpool (John Halliwell) car driver.

Can someone please help as to finding him in the census or possible death.
I would be grateful for any help.

Because the Gores may be compiled a year or so ahead, I wonder if these are worth investigating. Unless burial details can be found to confirm the address, I know it might mean purchasing the death certs but it's within he date that you can get the reduced price .pdf copies from the GRO site.

The John Halliwell who died aged 53 is buried in Anfield Cemetery. Abode given as Workhouse.
