The Liverpool & South West Lancashire Family History Society (L&SWLFHS) has been established in Liverpool since May 1976, when it was called the Liverpool Family History Society and its first meeting was attended by 30 people. The area covered was that part of the Ancient County of Lancashire known as the Hundred of West Derby.
Since then the Society has grown to include six groups in Liverpool, Leigh, Southport, Skelmersdale and Upholland, Warrington and Widnes. with a membership of nearly 1,500. The groups each have their own web pages detailing their calendars of regular meetings throughout the year, relevant information from around the area and details of the Help Desks, which are run by volunteers who assist anyone needing help or information.
Members of the Society have the right to attend any or all group meetings.
We welcome like minded researchers to join us in discovering our ancestors and enjoying our Meetings, Journals and Help Desks. We are available on Facebook, Twitter and our Forum where there is a friendly, helpful crowd who do their best to resolve queries.
